The Museum and Archives of Rockingham County (MARC) is an historical complex that shows a fascinating and inclusive snapshot of Rockingham County’s rich history. The complex consists of the main museum, which is located in the historic Wentworth Courthouse, and the Wright Tavern, a restored 19th century inn and tavern. The MARC’s quilt square is located on the side of the historic brick courthouse building, just above the parking lot. It depicts the two historic structures in two of the corners. The center is painted in the Grandmother’s Garden quilt pattern that was popular in the 19th century and is similar to the tile inlay seen in the floor inside the historic courthouse. The other two corners feature triangles in a Duck and Duckling quilt pattern to signify the wildlife found in Rockingham County.
